The Space Between

One of my all time favorite things to do, is to go outside at night, lie on a blanket and look up at the sky. I’ve done this a lot since moving to Arizona. The night sky is amazing here. During the summer months, I’ll often spend most of the night under the stars. There have been a few times, after watching a sunset, that I have seen the first star begin to shine in the darkening sky. Then hours later, I have watched as the last star disappeared into the light of the rising sun. If ever there were a place that I could find myself by losing myself…it would be under the stars.
It was during one of those nights of stargazing that I became consciously aware of what I call “the space between”.  As I lay there, I began to realize that there is a place where what was has slipped away and what will be has yet to emerge. It isn’t a time on the clock. It’s a place in the heart; a place where nothing exists but where everything is. The space between is where today has already become yesterday but it has not yet become tomorrow. The space between moments, the space between thoughts, the space between words…this is the magic of the universe. This is the magic of who we are.
The space between is the void that is not empty. The space between holds the mystery of Life. It is where Creation lives. The space between is where we are when we are BEing in the Now. It is where our awareness is conscious. It is that place in the Heart that we came here to find.  It is where Love is.
The space between is filled with such a beautiful silence that the sound of peace is tangible there. I can touch this peace by closing my eyes and looking within…into the eyes of my heart. I can touch this peace with my eyes wide open, looking up…into the eyes of the universe; recognizing that it is those same eyes that I see when I look into my heart. And I can also touch this peace by meeting everything and everyone around me at that place in my heart that is the space between. For it is there that who I AM is. It is there that Love Loves.
